PlayStation Games coming to Tegra Phones.

The PlayStation Suite, which was announced along with the launch of the Next Generation Portable, aims to take PlayStation gaming onto the Android platform, and in a big way. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (a.k.a the PlayStation Phone) comes with full PlayStation Suite support and will probably have the ability to play PlayStation games natively, without depending on an Android PSX emulator.

The processing power of the dual-core Tegra 2 is well known by now, so the announcement doesn’t come as a surprise. While most Android devices will struggle to emulate proper PlayStation games in all their glory, those powered by Tegra 2 are most likely capable. Whether PlayStation 2 games are coming to Android is a question that remains unanswered, but Sony will probably have to figure out a way to do what Emulator developers have been trying to do for years – get PS2 games working on a 1GHz dual-core processor. Either way, these are exciting times for mobile gaming, what with the Xperia Play and LG Optimus 3D releasing soon, and now this.
